Master Jig Grinding & Gage Company was founded in 1962 by Rudy
Vidergar. Mr. Vidergar graduated from Ford Trade School in 1936. During
W.W.II, he was awarded a metal of commendation for building a master
gyro gage for the B-17 bomb sight by reverse engineering. This critical
device was built from the only such device known to be in existence in
Europe at that time.
Upon his return to the United States, Mr. Vidergar worked for several
manufacturing companies as a precision gage builder and machinist. In
1951, he started Base Tool & Gage Company, a successful design and
build gage shop in the Detroit area with customers world wide. In 1962,
he founded Master Jig Grinding & Boring Company, a service company
for outsource jig grinding and jig boring. Because of customer demand in
the 70's and 80's "MJG & B Co. began to build gages and in 1991
the name of the company changed to Master Jig Grinding & Gage
Company. Later that year, Mr. Vidergar retired and the full
responsibilities for day to day management and operations was awarded to
his son Lyle Vidergar, than president.
Mr. Vidergar's penchant for only the highest of standards, quality
craftsmanship and relentless attention to customer service were the
cornerstones on which the business was was founded and the principles
which still guide it's management and operations today. A testament to
this ongoing commitment has been the company's ability to maintain many
of their original customers, some dating back over 44 years.
